How We Compare Betting Sites
A clear description of how we select, assess, and score UK-facing sports betting platforms — and what our comparison scores mean in practice.
Our starting position
This site exists to give sports fans a useful, non-promotional point of comparison when looking at UK betting platforms. There is a lot of content in this space that functions as thinly veiled advertising. We try to be more honest: we are an affiliate-funded comparison site, our commercial interests are disclosed, and our editorial process is designed to deliver useful assessments within that context.
Our scores are not perfect. No external comparison tool is. But we apply the same criteria consistently across all products, we don't let commission rates alter scores, and we write review notes that give you something to actually read and consider — not just a number.
Our process, step by step
Platform selection
We identify UK-facing sports betting platforms and decide whether each one can be assessed meaningfully within our framework. We aim for variety — not just the biggest names. Products can be added or removed based on current availability and our ability to conduct a fair review.
Hands-on assessment
Each platform is reviewed directly by our editorial team. We navigate the product as a regular user would — finding markets, building a bet slip, checking payment information, and attempting to locate terms and responsible gambling tools. We don't rely purely on the operator's own materials.
Structured scoring
We score each platform across eight criteria: market coverage, odds presentation, interface and navigation, mobile usability, bet builder and accumulator tools, payment options, terms transparency, and responsible gambling provision. Each criterion contributes to the overall editorial score.
Editorial review writing
We write review notes that summarise what we found in each criterion area. We aim to be specific and practical — noting what works, what is limited, and what a prospective user should check for themselves. We do not fabricate positive details or suppress negatives.
Score composition
The eight sub-scores are weighted and combined into an overall editorial score on a 10-point scale. We avoid false precision — a 7.8 and an 8.1 are close and represent similar quality. The score is a guide, not a definitive ranking.
Publishing and updating
Reviews are published alongside scores, summary notes, and our standard disclosures. We revisit reviews when we become aware of significant changes to a platform. Scores may be adjusted up or down accordingly.

Scores are editorial assessments only. Not official ratings or endorsements.
What our scores don't measure
Our scores do not assess odds value, expected returns, payout rates, or the likelihood of any betting outcome. We do not predict which operator will give you the best financial result — that is not predictable in the context of gambling.
We also do not verify UKGC licensing as part of our review process, and we do not investigate individual account complaints. We describe listed products as UK-facing betting platforms. Licensing verification should be done directly at gamblingcommission.gov.uk.
Frequency of updates
We aim to review our featured products periodically, and update where we have identified meaningful changes to a platform. We cannot guarantee that all information reflects the current state of any operator's product. Always check with the operator before acting on any information from this site.
